Julie Lyle and I were eating entirely too much food at Scampi in NYC, and talking about businesses that she’d worked in and on that scaled to 8- and 9-figures revenue in under 5 years time.

As an entrepreneur (who, ahem, won Google Demo Day, and raised $15MM in VC as we chased our dream), I was good at articulating how I saw a Target Addressable Market (TAM) of a billion dollars, and why we were poised for stratospheric growth.  I, like any good entrepreneur, had a financial model that showed the path to 8 figures… fast.

We managed to get double growth year over year for our first several years.  But, the recipe for hyper growth is triple, triple, triple, double, double.  We didn’t quite get there.

As I was listening to Julie’s journey (where she has had a few rocket ship rides) it occurred to me that it’d be fascinating to create a blog where these experiences where businesses scaled to 8- and 9- figures (because they do happen), could be captured and shared.  They are fascinating stories, and often the intrepid business people who achieve these phenomenal results are happy to share the ups and downs of these wild rides.

So, stay tuned.  I’ll interview a few amazing, fast-growth execs, crank out a few of these war stories and see where we go with this!
